EcoClay is converted from sludge produced in fresh water process plants through metal immobilisation by nanoporous structure of clay for safer use. Compared to the current sludge treatment solution by chemical treatment, EcoClay is a more cost-effective and eco-friendly solution in sludge re-utilisation for water utility companies to comply with Environmental Act in ensuring a more sustainable water resources by minimising sludge disposal into river and landfill that lead to water pollution by metal. Use of EcoClay as an alternative raw material for clay, ceramic and pottery products also helps to reduce deforestation by clay mining.
